FAQ

Simply put, coaching is a partnership between a coach and an individual (or sometimes a team) with the goal of inspiring and maximizing your personal and professional potential. Coaching is increasingly valuable in helping individuals and organizations navigate and succeed in today’s complex environments.

Co-Active® coaching is rooted in relationships, connection, intimacy and collaboration. The coaching partnership assumes you are the expert on your own life and that you are naturally creative, resourceful and whole. And that focusing on you as a whole person will evoke transformation.

Coaching is for anyone who wants to unlock new ways of thinking about their current situation. You need to be willing to invest in yourself, learn and grow. If you want to bridge the gap between where you are and where you want to be, coaching can help you get there.

Your coach will help move your life forward faster than you can by yourself. Coaching can help you:

  • Identify and set goals
  • Develop new strategies for achieving your goals
  • Live a more balanced life
  • Advance in your career
  • Achieve greater satisfaction at work
  • Manage stress
  • Improve your relationships
  • Improve your wellbeing
  • Move out of your comfort zone
  • Gain a fresh perspective

Being in the driver’s seat of your own life is an appealing idea—and one that people are becoming more open to. With rapid changes taking place in the business environment, organizations are increasingly committed to investing in the development of talented employees who will deliver competitive results. At the same time, many employees are experiencing greater job insecurity and feeling pressured to perform at higher levels than ever before. Coaching is a solution that helps individuals and companies learn and grow, unlocking their potential and inspiring new ways of thinking.

Therapy is typically concerned with healing pain, conflict and emotional trauma from the past. Coaching is concerned with the future, helping you to move forward, develop and grow. Personal feelings and emotions do come up during coaching, but your focus will be on setting goals, following through with action and creating positive change.

Most coaches specialize in just one or two areas. They might help individuals with career transition or help someone identify their true purpose. Their expertise may be in life coaching, or they might focus on executive coaching. If you have a specific goal in mind, look for a coach whose specialization is closest to your goal. Many coaches offer an introductory session so you can assess the fit and chemistry of a coaching partnership.

Your coaching session will typically last up to an hour. Sessions are usually face-to-face, over the phone or via Skype. Each session provides a safe, non-judgemental space for you to honestly evaluate your goals, strategies and actions. Your coach will ask questions, listen and provide guidance and feedback. You’ll be supported throughout the entire coaching process by your coach who will challenge and encourage you. Between each session, you’ll make progress toward your goals by working on the actions agreed to with your coach.

The length of a coaching partnership depends on your needs and goals. You may need coaching for just a few months, or you may get the most benefit out of the relationship by working with your coach for a longer period.

The coaching process is a partnership requiring a commitment to openness, honesty, action and change both during and between sessions. You must be willing to be fully present for each session and to take action on what you agreed to do between sessions. You will determine your coaching goals and priorities, and that will drive the coaching agenda. And you will define what success means to you.

Yes. The work you do with your coach will be entirely confidential and follows the ICF Code of Ethics. What happens between you and your coach stays between you and your coach.

A workshop is an interactive group session led by one or more facilitators. During a workshop, an issue or topic is explored together, often through brainstorming, group discussions and problem solving.

Anyone can attend our workshops! The only prerequisite is a desire to change your life for the better and a willingness to do the work.
