3 Of Our Favorite Inspiring Female Leaders

Inspiring leaders can be found everywhere around us in our daily lives. Despite being from all over the globe and immersed in different fields and careers, these three women have inspired us through and through. They are female leaders who have, and have had, the courage, determination, and serious grit in making the world a better place. Have a read, we’re sure you’ll find these women thoroughly inspiring.

Maya Angelou

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

And style she sure had! One of the most inspiring women on our list, Maya Angelou was an American poet, critically acclaimed memoirist, and actress. During her childhood, Angelou faced several traumatic experiences, but she didn’t let that stop her from being the strong woman she was. She used her experience to write one of her most well-known autobiographical books, “I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings,” and subsequently went on to write over five more autobiographies. Aside from her writing career, Angelou was an award-winning actress, touring all over Europe and Africa. She was even the first African-American woman to have her screenplay, Georgia, Georgia, produced as a feature film. Building on her impressive triumphs, Angelou became a professor of American studies at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, often being referred to as Dr. Angelou. Throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s, Angelou was commissioned to write poetry for several notable events, including Nelson Mandela’s eulogy. Maya Angelou passed away in 2014 at the age of 86.

Arianna Huffington

Considered to be one of the most influential people by Time Magazine and one of the most powerful women by Forbes, Arianna Huffington knows hard work. Born in Greece and eventually moving to England to study at Cambridge University, Huffington boasts quite an impressive resume. Over the course of her career, Huffington has written writing 15 books, as well as founded two well-known media platforms: The Huffington Post and Thrive Global. While Huffington has had a whirlwind of a career, she now focuses her attention on her latest project Thrive Global which is a platform dedicated to providing personal and professional health and wellness information to a global audience.

Eleni Andoniadou

Don’t let her young age fool you; Eleni Andoniadou has accomplished more than many. Originally from Greece, Andoniadou has received degrees in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Nanotechnology and Regenerative Medicine, Bioengineering, and Tissue Engineering from universities in Thessaly, London, and the US. Clearly, Andoniadou is driven, accomplished, and incredibly intelligent. Apart from her studies, she has received recognition from around the world for her scientific endeavours and humanitarian work. Most notably, Andoniadou and her colleague created an artificial trachea that was used in the first ever successful artificial organ transplant. After this amazing feat, Andoniadou founded Transplants Without Donors, a company with the mission of developing life-saving therapies using artificial organs. While Andoniadou is the President and scientific researcher for her company, she also dedicates her time to helping end human organ trafficking in countries like Uganda, Peru, and Costa Rica.
